The short answer is Jesus. He is the truth. He said, “The words I speak to you, they are Spirit and they are truth.” So the words of Jesus is truth too. But learning of Him will reveal truth and answer your concerns.
Further, the entire Bible including the section we call the “Old Testament” is also truth because it testifies of Jesus, the Messiah. and the coming king in power and glory to take us to where He is now. (2 Timothy 3:16, John 14:1-3)
As far as knowing if you are on the path of salvation, I highly encourage you to begin to pray to the Lord for guidance. Begin to read the Bible. Start with the gospel of John. Read a chapter a day and contemplate what is being said in an attitude of prayer. Find you a church that will encourage your journey.
God will lead you if you will ask Him to. I will be praying for you Lance.
