I just wanted to share a couple more verses that demonstrate that the Sabbath continued after Jesus death, when many today believe the Sabbath was securely nailed to the cross.

And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on. And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid. And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

This verse could have a dual application, but the earliest time from when Jesus died and many today believe that the Sabbath commandment was nailed to the cross was i think around 40 years later. Yet Jesus still knew that the Sabbath would be very important to the followers of Jesus even long after his death and resurrection!

One person I talked with stated that the Sabbath is for Jess and that Jesus kept it because he was a Jewish.
These beautiful verses you shared above refute this argument.

“The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.: Mark 2:27

He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. 1 John 2: 6,7

Moreso the sabbath commandment which requires us to rest the way rest was done at creation after the sixth day of creation God rested on the sabbath which was the seventh day. The same thought is there in the New Testament as you have alluded to it. The final issue on this is also shown in Revelation 14 in the 3 Angels message where the main issues are on worship and obedience. May God help us to understand ALL the commandments…we cannot keep ALL on our own, we need the Holy Spirit to live in us and He will help us to obey and worship God in the right way.
